PORTSMOUTH, N.H. —

A 17-year-old is facing multiple charges after state police said he crashed through a fence at Portsmouth International Airport at Pease and hit a plane while trying to get away from law enforcement.

New Hampshire State Police said a trooper was searching for a vehicle connected to reported crimes in other communities when the trooper tried to stop a black 2008 Ford Mustang a little after 8 p.m. Saturday on Durham Street in Portsmouth.

After seeing the trooper, police said the driver attempted to flee. The Mustang, which police said did not have its lights on, crashed through a perimeter fence at airport.

Police said the Mustang then hit a tractor and a parked aircraft before coming to a stop. Nobody was on the plane at the time.

Troopers took the 17-year-old driver, who is from Rochester, into custody and brought him to an area hospital to be evaluated.

No one else was injured, police said.

The teen is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, DWI, disobeying a police officer, conduct after an accident and reckless driving.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 9 in Portsmouth District Court.
